Being from California, I vividly remember not buying or eating grapes when I was in high school. The Filipino grape pickers in Delano were striking for higher wages in 1965 and were joined by Cesar's union on September 16 of that year. In 2003, the U.S. Postal Service unveiled a stamp in his honor. Books have been written in Mexico and abroad about the struggle for farmworkers by this revered leader. We have come a long way since then, but the injustices continue.
As a child farmworker, I am very proud to honor the celebration of a great man.
